H.O.P.E. Celebrates Adopt-A-Dog-Month
What Can An Adopted Dog Bring To Your Life?
There are as many responses to that question as there are dogs in this world! That’s why -- during American Humane Association’s Adopt-A-Dog Month celebration in October -- we’re encouraging people to adopt a rescue or shelter dog and experience the joy of finding their own answers.
Are you looking for
- an exercise buddy?
- a best friend and confidant for your child?
- a dog you can train with to learn animal-assisted therapy?
- a partner in agility competitions?
- a constant companion for your favorite senior citizen?
- a fuzzy face to greet you after a hard day at work?
An adopted dog can be all these things -- and so much more!
We have friendly dogs looking for a 2nd chance at a forever home. During the month of October we are reducing our adoption fee to $50. An approved application is required and can be completed online or here at the shelter.
If you're not ready to adopt quite yet but willing to help out, Super One Foods of Ironwood is selling "Dog Bones" for a $1 donation. All proceeds will help us with our goal of adopting 10 dogs this month.
Thank you for your support!
Kya is a fun, friendly 10 year old Pit Bull that recently found her way into our shelter family. She's a spunky girl that is full of love, light, and a zest for life! This sweet gal has a smile a mile wide! She loves human companionship and enjoys quiet, loving snuggle time with the Staff. Despite the sparkle in her eyes and the wag in her tail, Kya has a medical issue that she needs some help with. Kya arrived at the shelter with a softball sized mammary tumor, which is causing her much discomfort, which needs to be removed. The cost of Kya's necessary surgical procedures is estimated to begin at approximately $800.
We are reaching out to our faithful friends and supporters in the community to help us cover the costs of Kya's medical procedures, which she so desperately needs. She has suffered with this problem for longer than she should have, and we need to do the right thing for this lovely girl. We have a fund set up to raise funds for Kya through PayPal, if you are able to make a contribution. You may also drop off your donation directly at the shelter, in the form of cash or a personal check. No donation amount is too small. When you make your donation, please specify that you are donating towards Kya's medical costs.
We are also seeking a quiet, comfortable, stress free foster home, in which Kya can recuperate after her surgery. The shelter can be a stressful place for the dogs, and we want her to be able to rest and get the one on one loving care she will need to get her back to her sweet, spunky, adorable self as quickly as possible. If you are able to foster, please contact us at (906)932-1511 or stop by the shelter for an application.
Thank you for anything you can do for this special lady, whether sharing her story, making a donation, or fostering. Every little bit helps. We have an amazing group of supporters in our community and we know you will help us make this happen for this sweetheart of a gal. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
KYA's surgery went well and she is recovering nicely in the care of Karen Mallum, DVM @ Lake Road Veterinary Clinic. We will keep you posted on her progress. Thanks for all your support and well wishes!
